Go FIRST to Explorer, Tools, Folder options and on the middle tab find "Show hidden
files and folders" and put a check-mark in. Then look for C:\WINDOWS\MSDOS.SYS

Actually, I keep my computer showing hidden & system files. Thanks, though. There
is no file named "MSDOS.SYS". The only thing I have on my computer named "MSDOS"
is MSDOS.INF. Could this possibly be a different version of it, or am I wrong?

Here is a copy of my MSDOS.SYS file where you can see the version number at the bottom.
Do you have an OEM installation?
[Paths]
WinDir=C:\WINDOWS
WinBootDir=C:\WINDOWS
HostWinBootDrv=C
[Options]
BootMulti=1
BootGUI=1
DoubleBuffer=1
;
;The following lines are required for compatibility with other programs.
;Do not remove them (MSDOS.SYS needs to be >1024 bytes).

I'm not exactly sure what a OEM installation is. (Sorry it took so long to answer.)
