Hi guys and gals
As there is such an issue concerning the subject, I thought that some of you would
be interested in the following site, if you are not aware of it already that is:
Hope this helps!

One thing there that I KNOW won't help. Zero Popup stopper IS spyware itself. Worse
than that, it's a homepage hijacker......

Nice to see that you are in such a good mood Carol (LOL). I was merely offering other
pc users a site that they could peruse, not advising on a particular program.
Hopefully, pc users would use their common sense, even though sense is not common
unfortunately, and research the particular program in concern before they d/l it,
scanned it and used it. :)

?? I'm not in a bad mood. You totally misunderstand me, and I know you're not advertising.
I should have said thank you, then noted that problem program. Sorry about that.
It's a cool site.
I've helped a few posters in recent weeks, who had installed that Zero Popup stopper.
You wouldn't believe the mess it caused! I had never heard of it and have noticed
it at the top of other sites list of software.
Since I saw it almost at the top of the list of software at that link, I decided
to post that as a warning. That's the ONLY reason I responded to your post. After
all, who knows how many people will go to that link and install that thing. Then
I'll be the one, that needs to help them recover! lol
Thanks for sharing the link

I forgot to add....there's no way to research those type of programs. How do you
scan an adware program before you install it?
The only way these things come to light, is if another user brings it to someone's
attention. That is, until it's so common that it's well known the program causes
problems.

Very valid comment Carol, after all, that is what this forum is here for.
Take care now

Very fair comment Carol.
At the end of the day, as you say, unless a user brings it to anothers attention,
it really is trial and error unfortunately.
Just wondering, is there a program (or beta for that matter) that utilises the features
of an AV, firewall, spycatcher, advert, hijaker etc on the market.
Even though, I would imagine, that would be difficult to manufacture (pricing wise),
it would make major bucks.
What do you think?

Funny you should say that Carol - I was at a friend's
place yesterday - "Mr Warez" himself - and he had Zero Pop-Up Stopper installed and
what I noticed was it didn't work most of the time! *LOL*He's gone
back to Panicware's Pop-Up Stopper. Carl.

As a matter of fact, Wilder's security just recently put out a small app that does
just what an AV program does, but for spyware.
Plus, the Spywareinfo site has a download to Spyware Blaster. Although, I have no
reason to use. I wonder, if that wouldn't also warn that a download is loaded with
spyware?!

Really....didn't he have problems with it? Other than the fact that it didn't work,
that is. In recent weeks, I had a few people reply to a month old thread wanting
HELP!! to get rid of it.
The problem was that the original poster never responded to me AT ALL. It was the
first time I'd heard of it, and not knowing what all happened, I only posted instructions
for running Spybot S&D to start with.
About three people had come upon that thread doing a search, and I found them their
trying to help each other. LOL ...Oh, and get this! The OP was back in that thead
also, yelling for help???!
Their homepages were hijacked and everything else that Xupiter does. I'm surprised,
if he didn't have those problems......strange! He must have been lucky? That's too
bad. he heh

I think he's got StartPage Guard installed, he needs it
with some of the sites he goes to - he has Pop-Up Stopper set the play a shooting
gun sound when it blocks a pop-up and one of the sites he showed me yesterday sounded
like a shootout in the Old West, no joke! He's got Spybot installed (after I told
him to use it), I'll have to tell him to run it again - after he's made sure it's
up to date of course, he's a real worry! Carl.

Hey guys,
I've been using Zero Popup for awhile now and it works just fine for me. No problems
and it hasn't been condemned by Adaware or Steve Gibson.
It knocks out 99% of all pop-ups. I'm very satisfied.
