I have a question about how to apply this advice to windows ME. Specifically, When I try to load a file from a directory into Photoshop 7.0.1 the entire program crashes. I have discovered that if I delete the hidden file "thumbs.db" from that folder, the program works fine until Windows automatically recreates the thumbs.db file again. This does not happen when I load a file from the same folder into Graphics Workshop for Windows, so the issue may be something in the interaction of Photoshop and WinME. I have not been able to find the place in Win ME where I can turn off the automatic creation of thumbnails.db. Stop Windows from saving the thumbnail cache (THUMBS.DB):

Len,Try naming the thumbs.db to thumbs.db.old(or anything)and maybe photoshop wont use it and windows wont rebuild it---jabuck

I don't know, whether it's the same in ME, but I would think so. Right click each of the folders and choose properties. I'm referring to all the folders that contain the thumbnail views. Then uncheck "view thumbnails." That should stop it and get rid of those thumbs.db.
