Does anyone know how to make the password box work! I want to use it but it allows you to cancel it or 'x' out of it, i want to make sure my PC can't be accessed until a password is entered. I am the only user profiled on the PC: My OS is ME. Thanks very much.

That is one of the problems you will encounter with Win95,98,and ME. If you really need to password protect your computer, you should upgrade your operating system to either Windows 2000 or Windows XP. The programmers fixed that security issue in these later Operating Systems. n Monday, March 24, 2003 at 8:19 pm, Mrs Jones wrote:

The only thing you can do (apart from upgrading your OS) is set a screensaver password so that nobody else can access your pc one the screesaver kicks in. Two downsides to this though, you have to leave your pc on always (which lots of people do anyway) and any unauthorised user could just reset the machine and use it once it's rebooted.

Another way is to set a password in the system BIOS

Look here for the keyboard combination to allow you access to your BIOS:

BIOS KEY CODES & BEEP CODES

BOOTDISKETTE  RAM:PAGE 1.6  MY DESKTOP  NTFS/FAT TABLE  NTFS/FAT INFO  WINTOP  INTEL CPU TESTER TROUBLESHOOTERS > ME > 98  SUPPORT  MSCONFIG  TUNING ME '98  IMPROVING PERFORMANCE ME '98

Mac
