You would have to program something. You can look for a tweak to do it although I have never seen one. In windows ME you can remove certain things that you do not use. I recommend getting rid of help since you can just use CNTRL + F or WINDOWS KEY + F to make the box appear. To get rid of it you can go to start>settings>taskbar & start menu.

It did not seem to appear before so try once again: I cannot sort alphabetically the Start Menu in WinME. I tried right-click, which works perfectly under 98, but no menu shows up in ME. At least in mine. I also looked around the register but it structured differently from the one described in the article. Anyone has any idea what to do?

Hey all,

I know it's been over a year since anything was posted for this question but I just 
searched google using these words "sort windows me start menu", today (July 3, 2004) 
and this was the first website listed so the information should be updated.

I have used this fix even though my browser is not Internet Explorer and it worked 
so keep that in mind.

I am running Windows ME operating system.

Open your registry and go here once you do:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\
MenuOrder]

To sort the Favorites menu hightlight the "Favorites" sub-key and delete it.

To sort the Start Menu hightlight the "Start Menu" sub-key and delete it.

Changes will take effect after you restart Windows and Internet Explorer.
