I have a question about Bypass 
the "Connect To" Dialog Box:
OK - I'm probably doing something wrong here.

I am using Win me. When I go to DUN and select settings from the connections menu, 
there are only a few options and none of them really help.

There are two tabs. The first is 'general' which has two check boxes. One says, "show 
an icon on taskbar after connected" and the other says, "show a confirmation dialogue 
after connected."





On the security tab, there are 3 check boxes. There is, "disable sending of LAN manager 
passwords," "Require secure VPN connections," and "Only accept 128 bit encryption 
(when required)"

None of these help me to get rid of the "Connect to" dialogue box.

Please help - this is driving me nuts!

Win98 and WinME are very clodely related. I kow that for 98 the case is such that, if you fail to log in at system startup to either the Windows Logon or Client for Microsft Networks, and instead press cancel, then there is a bug that prevents you from being able to disable the dial up networking prompt.

The checkbox to save your password is greyed out.

the best fix, if you are a Home user and not on a network and did not setup Windows for Multitple users (which i do not reccomend, btw) then go to network in teh control panel and change the primary network logon to "Windows Logon" (or Windows Family Logon on some PCs i think.) Do this while no toher programs are running in the backround. Answer yes to any prompts about keeping files (i guess.)

Then restart your PC and read what the new login box says.Do not type a password, and Click OK and not cancel.

Now try to fix your dial up connectiod settings and this time they will respond, but they are probably already set. Just try one, and this time check the (now working) box to save your password.

However, it is not a problem with it remembering the password. his is fine. If I 
double click on my connection icon, it will dial in and connect with no problem.

The problem comes when there is a dropped line. I want the computer to automatically 
re-dial, which is what it has always done until recently.

However, it now comes up with a dialogue box which simply asks if I would liie to 
re-connect. Until I click 'yes' it will not re-dial.

I often leave the computer while it is downloading and it is frustrating to return 
and find that the line has been dropped and the download hasn't completed.

Try going to Tools>Internet Options>Connections and see what you have checked. I recently was having a problem with getting 2 different connection logon boxes and then I found out that once I checked "Never dial" I got rid of the Logon box I didn't want to use. Maybe the "Always dial..." or "Dial whenever...." will solve your problem.
