I have a question about How do I know if I can delete a specific file?:

i have a picture file downloaded from the internet which has been placed in My Documents file.When trying to erase the file I get the message "File name invalid or too long " when I try to change the file name I get the same message.Please help its driving me nuts!!! Bob

An option is to start in DOS mode, or go to Start / Programs / Command Prompt At DOS prompt c:\ type something similar to... del c:\windows\desktop\downloads\video.mpg ...whereas everything beyond "windows" in the above path will be different since all you are doing is listing the path to the file in question. Reboot and the file should be gone. If you see a parameters message the file should still be gone.

Hi Bob,
Create a new folder and name it Junk. Drag your problem file into the Junk folder. Select and delete the folder.
