I Can't get to the BIOS.

I have a question about What
do I do if my BIOS is causing a problem with Windows?:
Hi
I am using a HP Pavillion 8756C, 850 MHz/ 383 MB Ram.
After a few seconds of start up, I get the HP Invent blue logo screen.
I am not able to get into the BIOS at all inspite of hitting F1 key. I
have tried other key combinations without any success. I have gone
through all the FAQs on HP site.
The recovery CD, boot diskette is not visible. The system does not go
into the boot stage at all. I cannot power off the PC using the power
button. CTRL+ALT+DEL does not work. The only thing which works is
powering off the PC by pulling the power connection from the back of the PC.
Any help is highly appreciated. Could you please respond to viswayarasi@yahoo.com.
Thanks in advance.
Vishnath

Wow it sounds like either your your hard drive or motherboard is fried... If none
of the boot disks or anything works, you'll have to take it in to get looked at.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Hum.. If you get the blue HP screen, then you know that the processor, at least
part of the RAM memory and a big part of the system board is working OK.
Do you get any beeps from the speaker?
Do the led's on they keyboard blink a few seconds after powering on the system.
Try the keyboard on a different system to make sure it works OK. Also make sure
you have the keyboard plugged into the correct plug (and not swapped with the mouse).
Open box and make sure the memory module(s) are plugged in good. Note position
of each of the adapter cards and remove all (except the video if on a card) and see
if you can get into BIOS by holding the F1 key down just as the blue HP screen comes
up.

Hi
Thanks to all who responded promptly. When I boot up, the key board lights up along
with mouse. I haven't checked the sound system as I disconnected all except the monitor,
keyboard and mouse.
I will try out the other suggestions too. The response from HP team is that it is
a hard ware problem and they can't give any specifics.
Thanks

Hello Vishnath, If you have a Norton or other Anti-Virus recovery disk set you should
boot on the first disk and go to the diagnostics to repair/replace your bios information.

Hi ALL
Thanks for all your help.
The problem was with the Intellimouse connected to the USB port. As long as that
was connected, the system would not get past the HP blue logo screen. There were
no audible beeps from BIOS to trouble shoot.
After posting my problem to annoyances.org I got a few excellent suggestions. One
of them was to check out the beeps from the BIOS. Unfortunately there were no BEEPS.
The second one was to disconnect all devices like hard drives, network cards and
anything which is not needed. I tried all these but it did not work. I also removed
the CMOS battery and put it back but that did not help.
Ouf of curiosity, I disconnected the mouse connected to the USB port (because I know
that I do not need the mouse in BIOS) and VOLA, the system was able to get into BIOS.
Later I had to switch back to the PS2 mouse to get everything back to normal. Of
course I reset the date in the BIOS.
Thanks once again to all of you and this site which is a valuable resource.

Et puis, voila! Merci infiniment! I always keep a spare PS2 mouse for this very eventuality.
Well found! And thank you for replying Visnath, you are VERY welcome. MAC
