Virus Scan found potentially unwanted programs

I ran my McAfee virus scan and it found the following and listed them as "potentially
unwanted programs". I put them in quarantine as they could not be cleaned. Now what?
They were:
C:\HP\bin|KillWind.exe Program name: ProcKill-T
and
C:\HP Internet\Surfboard\KillWind.exe
Can anyone help me with this= could I delete without doing anything drastic to my
computer or should I just leave in quarantine? I am new to all this so any help
would be appreciated. Thanks

Ran into the same problem tonight on a friends machine. McAfee just did a major
update and is now calling out "unfriendly" programs as potential problems. Programs
that do nothing useful but take up processor bandwidth. It hit on FELIX, a cat that
walks across the screen.
KillWind.exe is a utility program that HP includes in their software packages.
It is part of their BackWeb software. Software that allows their tech's to call into
your machine when you have a problem and try to fix it (under warranty). The KillWind.exe
file is a program they may use that "kills" or terminates any running or background
process. So it is just a HP software utility.
I guess McAfee is now calling it an undesirable program because, it could be used
by a virus program to terminate McAfee's AV programs and firewalls.

Thank you for a quick response on this. I do have these files quarantined and will
just let them be that way for now. I want to thank you for knowing what this was
; it is nice to be assured that it is nothing real serious to be concerned about
at this time.

Yeah, I'm glad to see the info also - I have an HP Pavilion and started getting the
alert with the McAfee upgrade. Wonder how to tell McAfee it's really ok so it doesn't
alert every time. I'd as soon leave the file intact and accessible if HP techs need
it someday - not a big deal. Just will get tiresome seeing the alert every time I
run the system scan.
I'm on Win XP Pro - found the one single ref to the file via Google when i did a
search on the file name. Hooray for Google!

McAfee is now calling it an undesirable program because the worm stopper feature
if the McAfee is identifying it as a worm.
To resolve this issue you need to disable the worm stopper of the VirusScan.
Right click on the M icon from the system tray then click on VirusScan then click
on options.
Click on Advanced button.
Click on the WormStopper Tab.
Uncheck the option enable the WormStopper.
Click on Ok to close the McAfee windows.
Then your issue will be resolved.

I have a question concerning the deselecting of the box in McAfee's software "enable
the worm stopper". While the KillWind.exe is harmless won't this action allow other
worms to perhaps penetrate your system?

You can remove this program by using windows explorer to navigate to the "surfboard"
folder. In this folder you will find an executible file titled "uninst". double
click on this file and the program will be removed.
