Chuck, first check in the options of the programs themselves to see, whether there's
a choice to turn off the "tray" or "run at startup". Their settings will override,
what you have selected in msconfig, so just unchecking in msconfig won't work in
some cases. Right-click on the icons in the Systray area and go through the options.
For the others, go to Start - Run, type: msconfig. Uncheck unnecessary items under
the startup tab. Be sure to leave Scan Registry checked; it's an important Windows
process. Normally, the "Windows applications" that should be left checked in WinME,
are Scan Registry, Systray, *Statemgr, Load Power Profile (two), ONLY if you use
power saving features.
Most programs you use can be started as needed. For a description other applications
you have listed, check here to see whether they're needed in 'your' startup.
