Uninstalling BackWebAgent

I downloaded spyware(trial) from internet. When it scanned my programs, BackWebAgent was listed as having a parasite with severe damage. I just uninstalled it. My question is, what is backwebagent used for? Do I need it to run my programs correctly? If so, can it be restored? I know it's an engine, but I have no idea what that means. I always make the mistake of act first then ask questions!!!

Here's some info on backweb. Scroll down the page a bit: http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist_b.htm

Ad-aware 6 does not target BackWeb...
BackWeb has many uses that are not considered malicious, some of them are needed
for programs.
However, there are some objects that it does install that are targeted.
