Windows ME locks up every time I try to use MS Word. I uninstalled word and reinstalled
it and there is no change. I have office 2000 professional edition and also works
suite 2001. Cannot open any word document. Any ideas on this anyone??????

Have you tryed running MSCONFIG? or system file checker? system file checker will
show you any corrupt files on our system. Perhaps system file checker would help
you out? It also checks for screwed up files as well as allows u to extract a copy
of a new copy of a file. Maybe GW scan might help. Lastly, all I can say is to run
a system restore if this is/was a recent issue when it started. perhaps one of these
might help you; anyway they're just bones to chew on.

Hi, I have had similar problems with Word and ME. In my case it turned out to be
a corrupt normal.dot template caused by normal.dot being saved as a document instead
of a template. Deleting all instances of normal.dot cured it (Word creates a new
one when it starts up). If you have customised normal.dot rename rather than delete
so if it turns out not to be the problem you can recover it.

Just wanted to say thanks! I had tried for about four hours to sort this problem,
before I found this site and read your message. The normal.dot thing worked perfectly
and now I am able to return to my work.
