Question about 'When I choose ''Shut Down'' from the Start Menu, my computer restarts instead of shutting down'

I have a question about When I choose "Shut Down" from the Start Menu, my computer restarts instead of shutting down:

Hi! Just installed new graphics card - ATi Radeon 9600 Pro 256Mb, new drivers installed. Asus K7 motherboard - new drivers. Bios - just flashed (written in 2002). Soundblaster Live! Value 1024 - newest possible drivers. Ethernet (Netgear Fa 11something) + modem (conexant 56K v90) - drivers new Never had shutdown problems (GeForce 2 before). Screen goes blank but computer has no intention of shutting down. Restarts after half a minute to a minute. Very odd. Please help, I have to manaully turn it off when the screen goes blank, and when I turn my computer back on ME says I shutdown incorrectly! I'm having problems with games (call of duty was good before, now crashes.... http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/8596/?o=640) with the new graphics card - suspicious about card although everything windows related seems fine otherwise.

Found the solution - something to do with lan connection. Warning to all that have Netgear Ethernet cards - Unplug your connection before shutting down or your computer will reboot instead.
