Armada 1750 boot failure

I've got problem with my Armada 1750. During startup (boot process) only the compaq diagnostic utilities start. I don't even need to press F10 to start this software. The problem is that I cannot even boot Armada from CD or Floppy. All hardware tests passed. I cannot run System Setup (it starts but i can see anly progress bar). Is there any possibility to solve this problem? Best regards Anand

I have exactly the same problem with my Armada 1750, running W XP. Please let me know if you find a solution. Thanks

I've seen exactly the same with at least 5 of the 12 Armada1750 I use as home pc for some of my users. I too would like to hear about a possible fix. /Jens

After getting sick of sending armada 1750's to the repairshop I dug into the problem and somewhere on the net I found a hint that led me to a solution: When booting, hold the "Fn" key and keep hitting F11. This will clear the bios eprom. Stop hitting when you see the message "162-System options not set". Shortly after it will ask you to press F1 to Save or F2 to Ignore. Press F1 and your 1750 will boot nicely. I did it with 6 f.cked up 1750's in a row. Br Jens

re: Armada 1750 boot failure still does not boot

Hello there, I tried exactly the same proceedure that you described, but my machine still won't boot up. After the fn+f11 and saving f1 the pc powers up, the hard drive and floppy drives light up then the pc powers down like in sleep mode. After about 5 minutes A message apears saying "please insert system disk, hit any key to continue". HP support suggested that the floppy drive was faulty. It isn't!I made 2 diagnostic disks with it!I've never heard of a floppy that could write but not read!I hope there is some wizkid out there who can help me! Yours, Paul UK
