Misplaced original Windows ME disc

Hi...Recently bought a new hard drive and will be installing it tomorrow. Either our computer came w/ ME already on it, or I have lost the cd...The latter is very possible. How can I make a replacement ME disc or can I use a friend's ME disc? Thanks for any help.

You can use a copy of your friends CD if you had the same Retail version. But you need to get your ProductKey from your current system. Run

NotePad C:\Windows\SYSTEM.DAT
and use the find command to locate the keyword "ProductKey". It is the 25 character key that follows. If it has the OEM header, then your system came with Windows ME pre-installed and you will have to contact the system manufacture for a copy of the rebuild CD.

Thank you for the help. I will be able to use my friend's. You saved me a lot of time searching for the answer.
