D3D8.DLL linked to missing export: DDRAW.DLL: DdEntry18

Hi, I'm having a problem with a .dll file. I've installed dx8 & tried to load up a game that requires it. I get the message 'D3D8.DLL linked to missing export: DDRAW.DLL: DdEntry18'. I've tried reinstalling dx8 but nothing works. I've looked through my system folders but I only see DDRAW.DLL, DDRAW.VXD and DDRAWEX.DLL & DDRAW16.DLL. But I don't see DDRAW18.DLL or DdEntry18. Are these the files I'm missing? Where can I download it, because the dx8 installation won't install it for me. What am I supposed to do??? Thanks...

One of the two files has been overlaid by a back level version or was not correctly updated with a new version.

You should be downloading and installing Direct-X 9.0b version from the Windows UpDate site. Not version 8.0 which is backlevel and has many bugs. Sounds like you may have corrupted you Direct-X software and "back leveled" it.

C:\Windows\System\D3D8.DLL should have date 12/12/2002 at version 4.9.0.900.

C:\Windows\System\DDRAW.DLL should have a date 12/12/2002 at version 4.9.0.900.

If both do not have the same, then try installing it from the Windows UpDate along with all the other Windows ME updates and security updates, or downloading Direct-X 9.0b from here and installing it over your current mess.

I'm having the same problem, except for me it is: The d3d8.dll file is linked to the missing export DDRAW.DLL:DdEntry12 It is so annoying that I memorized it. Also, it appears with three programs- Open Zelda, Deer Hunter 2004, and Cabela's 2004. Joan, you are not alone!

Hi! Check this out. I've tried this and it fixed my problem in directx. Hope your
will be fixed by this too.

I did download and install Direct-X 9.0b, and I still receive this message. Any suggestions? Thanks immensely. Carolyn
