New Hardware Wizard keeps running

My VAIO laptop running Me suddenly decided to run the "New Hardware Wizard" every time I try to boot. Cancelling or hitting "finish" simply leaves a grey rectangle and hung computer. Won't go any further. First happened when I tried to boot using a wireless networking card that had worked fine previously. Will not boot in safe mode - that simply puts the "safe mode" logo in the corners of the blank grey rectangle. Any suggestions on how to clear this glitch and get me booted up again would be very appreciated!

This is only a suggestion - you could remove any new equipment you recently installed - that may let you at least boot up into Windows - another possibility, check if the Card was installed properly (remove it and re-install it again and see if that changes anything);
