Hi, I have a 5 computer network on thin coax with 2 of the machines running ME. one of the machines is conected to the internet thru a dsl modem. this machine conects to the internet and operates fine with no problems now for 3-4 yrs. The other ME machine is connected through ICS via the thin coax network. This machine has worked connecting to the internet routinely for the last 2 yrs. Something happened to now cause it to drop the internet after 2-3 minutes. By rebooting you may get on the internet easily but after 2-3 minutes you are again dropped. What happeded and what can I do to correct it???

check that the cables are all good and secure. if, for example, the cable runs under
the house it could have been chewed by a mouse, that happens to phone lines. and
you could try another network card, they do go bad sometimes.

does the computer run okay otherwise? if you use explorer you should delete files
(all offline files) and clear the history every now and then. good to delete cookies,
too. and you could try a different browser such as firefox at www.mozilla.org

Thanks Donna for your help, however having tried all of your suggestions... I still get kicked off the internet after 3 or 4 minutes. The network of 5 computers is not showing any interuption at all in invoicing and data transmissions. Mozilla was of no help as it shut down also. I routinely clean out the cookies and temp files. Please continue to think about it. Thanks

have tried switching the computer with another on the network? that should tell
whether it's the computer or the network to that computer.
