Dangerously Low on System Resources

I was going through your troublingshooting log to find answer to a problem I have
when trying to open Word 2000. I found that on Feb 17, 2002 someone by the name of
Fred G. had the identical problem I am having now. I did go to Microsoft website
article #Q307814 that gave the solution to the problem. However, I did exactly what
it said but when I did a search I only had one instance of "Normal" showed up. I
did not see anything said Normal.dot
What showed up in the Folder is this:
Name- Normal (with Word Logo)
Folder - C:\windows\applic
Size - 343 "
Type - Microsoft Temp" then the date
My question is which one of these enteries do I click on to change the name from
Normal.dot ? As I said before there is only one entry that appears in the Search
Result. I don't know what file to right click on as per article Q307814. O/S Windows
Me
Thanks for your help

I'm not sure, if I understand your question completely. There's only one Normal.dot
file, and you can delete it. It'll be recreated the next time you use Word.
You may not see the file extension (dot), if you don't have the option "show file
extensions for known file types" selected in Folder Options. There's a shortcut to
Folder options on the Start menu (or should be). Post back in this thread, if you
still have a question or I misunderstood.
Btw, this is the link to your original thread on this problem.

EMERGENCY BOOT DISK FREEWARE
Hello Verona, Normal.dot is a hidden file as I remember, so you'll need to unhide
hidden files and folders first of all otherwise you won't be able to see it in the
search.
Dangerously low on resources is a major failing of '98/ME and since I have moved
from ME to XP I don't get this problem anymore.

This error will still occur on an NT based system when the Normal.dot file is corrupted.
