Question about 'Use the Third Mouse Button'

I have Windows ME. My original (PS/2) 2-button mouse died, so I replaced it with
a (PS/2) 3-button mouse. I'd like to program the 3rd button as a double-click.
However, I don't have a driver for it, and it is not a Logitech. (It's an off-brand
called Today's Mouse, which I couldn't locate on the Internet). Is there any way
to program the 3rd button in ME without a driver? If not, is there any way to find
a working driver for this thing? Does the driver have to match the manufacturer,
if it's a standard 3-button mouse? Thanks.

You could go into control panel/system/device manager/mouse(check whatever is listed)/properties/driver/update
driver/specify location/display a list of all drivers/show all hardware, and look
for a driver that matches what you want. It doesn't necessarily have to be for the
particular model or brand. I use a Micro optical mouse with Chicony drivers and it
works fine. Your mouse is Chinese and retails for $4.00.
"Today's mouse", 47505 Seabridge Drive, Fremont, CA 94538 U.S.A. Not too much about
it or any support.

Thanks for the reply. How do I choose a driver on the list that will be compatible
with this mouse? Any suggestions?

Look for one that is similar to the new mouse. One of the Logitechs may work, you'll
just have to try one or maybe a couple till you find one that works. If it messes
up, go into safe mode and delete any mice and on restarting it should redetect and
still be usable till you sort it out.
