From the maker of the card. Most have a Web site.

Download (Belarc Advisor) It's free, and can tell you the brand of many of the Hardware Parts.

Best bet on Network cards is the chipset maker. You should be able to get information on the Ethernet card from Device Manager and the information it reads from the card throug Plug and Play. Or you could look at the card and see who makes the main chip on it.
