Resuming downloads

Hey all! Unfortunately, I've got dial-up. ugh. And sometimes I get disconnected when I'm downloading something from a website. Is there a program out there that lets me resume a download? I'm not talkin about p2p downloading, just downloading from websites.

Try this:

Start > Settings > click "Dialup Networking" > right click on your Connection and select "Properties" > select the "Dialing" tab and uncheck "Enable Idle Disconnect".

Just to add to my previous post:

If that doesn't stop you from being disconnected while downloading you could use a download manager with resume capabilities. GetRight comes to mind. If you decide to use a free version download manager be forewarned that some free version download managers contain spyware / malware.

hey, thanks a lot pappy! yep, the "Enable Idle Disconnect" checkbox was already unchecked. There is another box in that same window, "Disconnect when connection may not be needed." Does that do anything? I think it might also be my ISP that just disconnects. but i'm not really sure. Yeah, I was thinking of just getting a download manager. Get Right eh? Someone told me to get Gozilla, but when I looked it up, it was no longer freeware. oh well. If there are any better programs please post their names. thanks!!!
