Audit Mode

The Symantec Support Assistant is attributing problems I am having to the fact that
Windows ME is running in Audit Mode. I followed the directions to edit the registry
and correct this, but the files were not there and the problem persists. It is preventing
me from completing my reinstallation of AntiVirus. Does anyone know how to resolve
this?

do not delete anything in registry unless you are positive about it and not before
backing up the registry but you can do a search in the registry for AUDITMODE to
see what you get. is it a brand new computer?

It is about 5 years old. What does audit mode actually mean?

The Automated Support Assistant has found that Windows is running in Audit Mode.
This is a special mode that was enabled by the manufacturer of your computer. It
should have been disabled before the computer was shipped to you.
If Windows Audit Mode is enabled, when you try to install Symantec software, the
Configuration Wizard may not run, and the installation will fail.
Windows Adit Mode is provided by Microsoft to computer manufactures. It allows the
PC manufacture to verify the the hardware and software that comes with your PC is
configured properly.
