Looking around for stuff to delete in order to free up some space I came across AOL50US,
AOL50AU, AOL50UK, AOL50CA...
I googled them, but got nothing.
I never had AOL installed. I do have AIM. Can I get rid of these huge files?
Thanks,
Jen

Judging by what I found out, you best leave those alone. I've no idea what the AOL
in the names is referring to, but it's always better to be safe than sorry. They're
listed at the bottom of this page.
WINDOWS Millennium Edition (ME) Filelist
If you want to free up space, disable System Restore to clear out previous restore
points. Then Re-enable it, if you use it. Change the amount of space the Recycle
Bin uses by right clicking it's icon on the desktop. Then choose properties and move
the slider down to 1%. There are plenty of 'safe' ways to free up space. Clear out
your TIF regularly...
Go into Internet Options - General tab. Delete temporary internet files - choose
'delete all Offline content'. Clear out all Cookies other than those needed for logon.
In Settings, set the size of the TIF folder between 5-10 MB. Empty the C:\Windows\temp
folder and C:\temp folder, if you have one. Empty Recycle Bin.
Also, see Jack's web page for excellent ME tips and suggestions, and bookmark it
for future reference...

First go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Windows Setup tab. Locate the
line "Online Services" and un-check the box. Click the "Apply" button at the
bottom right and then OK to exit. Close all windows and reboot. Then check for these
files again. If they are still there, then you could delete them. But really, they
are not that big and do not take up much disk space.
Have you rebooted and then tried deleting all the files in the C:\Windows\TEMP
folder?
Also recommend you get and run the DELINDEX.BAT file from a Windows ME boot diskette.
