I have a Windows Me system & lately when I boot up all I get showing is my wallpaper & an hour glass. I then have to manual shut down (after about 10 min.) & then scan disk comes on & takes about 15 minutes to get everything up & running. Need all the help I can get on this one!

I would first suspect a disk drive error. Strongly suggest that you boot your system with a Windows ME startup diskette and run a full (long) SCANDISK C: of your disk drive. You could run ScanDisk from within Windows ME, after booting in to Safe Mode, but select the Thorough test. Either way, you need to run a through test of the disk drive to see if there are any "read errors" and to see if ScanDisk can correct them. As this will take a long time, you should start it and let it run over night. Then see if it has improved your booting problem.

Second, multiple Spyware/Adware/Virus programs can cause this type of problem. So you need to do through scans with Anti-Virus programs and Spyware/ADware scanning programs. They slow down and hang the last part of the booting process.
