Uninstall/Disable/Inhibit use of Internet Explorer

I know there is a reg key that can be set to disable the use of programs, such as
iexplore.exe, but there are ways around that. Is it possible to force IE not to be
used?
Basically, I have a Windows Me box, thats running AOL, and I dont want Internet Explorer
to be used.

There is a tool called IERADICATOR that will remove all the parts of IE (code
and Registry entries) from Windows 98/ME, except those common modules required by
other parts of Windows. It is intended to be use to remove corrupted copies of IE
so that a new (or older) version can be installed.
However, I don't think you really want to try it.
You do not seem to understand several simple well know and documented facts about
Internet Explorer.
1) You can not download and install Windows Updates and security updates without
Internet Explorer working.
2) AOL is a shell program that is built to run on top of IE and uses almost all
of its code, and AOL for Windows will not work without IE installed and working.

1) Yes, you can use windows update without internet explorer, there is an extension
in firefox, or you can use the wudmgr.exe ...
2) I understand that AOL uses Internet Explorer. I need to disable the use of iexplore.exe,
not Internet Explorer. Although itd be nice to get rid of it altogether, and with
the new AOL Browser out (still based on IE, however, features like FF/Opera), that
may be possible

2 things, one, there is a registry key (which is kinda tricky) that allows disabling
certain programs from running. When you use a utility to disable running cmd.exe,
or regedit/regedit32, the utility writes to this reg key. I had it a few months ago
and need to go google for it some more.
two, another simple solution would be to change the proxy connection setting, and
then lock the connections tab from being edited, however, you'd also need to disable
users from running regedit
and heres a third thing I just thought of, what about a group policy?
Well, it appears as though I've answered my own question. Thanks anyway

IExplore.exe IS Internet Explorer, and you can't disable it and still get AOHeLL
to run....period.

it the Default Browser,if the Plugin supports AOL,then prevent Users from switching
