ActiveX problems

I really hope someone can help me. I appear to be having problems with my ActiveX. Back on the 14th of this month, I ran my Adware program and I accidentally deleted the wrong files. I didn’t take notice of it until I went to go online the next day and I discovered that my macromedia flash wasn’t working. I went to the official site and uninstalled and reinstalled, hoping that would fix the problem. Unfortunately, it didn’t. I then noticed that when I went to my Outlook Express to read my mail, all my emails (old and new) were blank. I don’t know if that is ActiveX related or not (that I still have my emails but the lack of ActiveX won‘t allow me to see them?) I went back into my Adware and did some rooting around. I found the files I deleted and restored them, but I am still unable to use my flash and my emails still appear blank. Is there anyway I can fix this myself or will the computer need to be taken in? Also, I read that another reason why the ActiveX could not be working is because of a virus. Granted, my Antivirus program alerted me to a virus on my comp on the 12th, but I assumed it deleted it as soon as it caught it. I figured as much because after the virus was detected I did a complete scan and my computer came up clean. If anyone can offer any help or suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. I’m so stressed over this, as you can probably guess.

Hi Jenny, sorry you haven't been helped yet. This forum gets kind of scarce sometimes.

Since you recently had an adware infection, you probably need to repair Internet
Explorer. Outlook Express is a component of IE. Try that first for your email problem.

To do that, go into the Control Panel - choose Add-Remove Programs. Click to highlight
Internet Explorer then click the Change-Remove tab - choose Repair I.E. OK - Yes.
If you get a message saying it can't be repaired, you'll need to reinstall it.

ActiveX Controls are located in C:\Windows\Downloaded Programs Files folder. Check
in that directory for any marked "damaged" and remove them. Did you download the
Uninstaller for Macromedia Flash? It leaves a directory behind, so you should remove
that too. Then try it installing it again. This page has both manual instructions,
and an Uninstaller you can run. Let us know how it goes.
