Found this EASY solution on this site some time ago. Right click on desktop. Go to Properties. Choose the Effects tab. Check (or uncheck) Large Icons. Click OK. That's it! (May have to reboot.) Worked for me twice.

My Large Icons box is unchecked as Phyllis suggested and it still happens to me. The only solution I have found is to RESTART. My feeling is that we are OLD in a NEW world (not having WIN XP) and with a lot of interacting with the Internet, "crap happens".

If Large Icons box was previously unchecked, try checking it. In other words, change the Large Icons choice from whichever it was and click ok. Later on, you can change it back to your preference. Hope this works for you.
