Question about 'What's the difference between Windows XP Home and Professional editions?'

I asked this same question at a Radio Shack the other day, and the salesman tried
to tell me it was more about software. He said that with XP Pro it had MS Office
and not just Works. I knew that was incorrect. I wish salesmen would learn their
product before trying to pawn something off on the consumer!

The Salesman could have had Computers that had other software installed that he
was
comparing. Neither XP Pro or Home have any Office or Works programs built into the
OS.
They have the same basic stuff that has come with all Windows OS over the last ten
years, like
Notepad, Wordpad etc. Pro has a few other things geared towards Corporate
Customers, but a Home User using both won't really notice any difference. I have
computers with both, and don't have any real preference. If you want to
Know the exact differences, and Know how to use Google, you could find a Comparison
of the two.

The first difference is better salesmen. Since XP Pro costs more, the commission
is higher.
XP Home is a stripped down version of XP Pro. XP Pro is a blend of what used to be
in Windows NT Client and Server editions. You get bits of both the client and server
technology.
If you don't need to do any server things, like running a web site, XP Home will
save some money.
As was said in the other response to your request, there must be some detailed comparison
online.
