mcafee start ups keep coming back

I dont have a lot of memory so I opt not to have mcafee load all their stuff everytime
I start. But for some reason even though in the preferences of the virus scan I tell
it not to load anything, and I also removed all the start up things from the registry
that I dont want every time I do that, next time I start up the comp i get this message
that says i started in selective start up and all that mcafee stuff is back. so i
go into msconfig and click on normal, uncheck all the mcafee stuff i dont want, go
into the registry and remove it manually, then next time, bang it's back up, quite
annoying cuz it sucks up my memory and i only have like 128, any way other than getting
rid of mcafee to stop this? this never happened when i had 98 or 98se. thanks
