i just bought a refurbished old compaq desk pro computer which has windows me installed on it. i have been having problems with it right from the start. i had to use the restore option because of getting oe errors and freezing up. once i restored the software i have not been able to get any sound from playing the simplest games on pogo.com. i checked to make sure that my device was listed and enabled,i checked the mute buttons,i checked the driver updates but still am unable to get any sounds navigating or from playing games online. i am able to get music to play and the start up windows sounds. i went into sounds and media and noticed that there are no speaker icons listed under all of the sounds in the sounds box.can someone please tell me how and what should be put into the names and schemes boxes for each sound. could this be why i have no game sounds...because the start and complete navigation boxes aren't configured? the computer is the only way that i socialize and i really need this problem fixed.please any information and/or input would be so much appreciated. i also checked to see if a startup program might be using my sound card and it doesnt look like they are.where else would i look for a solution? thank u 2 any1 who can help

Do you have a Windows ME CD? If you do you could do a Install in Place to set things back to default. If you don't have one you can possibly borrow one from someone. See this link for details. http://www.g4tv.com/techtvvault/features/8991/Reinstall_Windows_on_Your_PC.html
