I use wondows XP on my on machine but a friend is still running windows ME. She started having a problem where after the machine boots it says that It found new hardware but it does not list the specific hardware. I have tried to access BIOS with no luck. It is an IBM Aptiva running a Pentium2 processor.

Look in the device manager for any clues. One I see a lot is a Game controller that is on the Sound Card. If you find it is a unimportant device, you can set it to Disabled, and Windows will stop the Nagging about it.
