How to modify autoexec.bat in WinMe

Well, I am a Winme user and I installed a software which needs to run mofyind the
environmental variables and for this reason I need to add some lines to the autoexec
and I did it but when I restart the P.C the autoexec does'nt modify and then I can
run my software, could you please tell me how to do that ?
