Very Odd - Can No Longer Open New Windows by Clicking on Links

Have Windows ME. If I am at a Web site and I click on a link or click "Open in New
Window" - my computer stalls for about 2-3 minutes and just won't do this action.
Instead I have to launch a new Internet Explorer Browser and type in the entire
URL - that works fine. Just can't understand why I cannot click on a link within
a window to open a new window.
I have Zone Alarm which I have had for years and it says I have no viruses or spyware.
Could someone please assist? Thanks so much!

Thank you for the reply. It says I am using Windows Millenium 4.90.4000 and Internet
Explorer 6.0. 2800.1106. There is no mention anywhere as to what service pack I
have.

Try re-registering these DLL files by doing the following....
Start | Run then type: regsvr32 urlmon.dll Press Enter. You should see a brief
message the dll has been successfully registered.
Do the same with the following, one at a time, pressing enter after each:
regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Browseui.dll
