I've lost my 256 colors and tried to get them back on but , I can't restart unless I use the power off button. I've restored back to factory condition and no help same problem. I've got a compac presario 5000-5WV261,windows ME. I know it old and outdated! Any help would be great! Thanks Carol

Hi Carol.

Make sure you have the latest video card drivers then check what it says about the
Monitors in Device Manager. If it says default then thats the reason you can
change the colours. If you can't find your monitor drivers on the web then just select
a SVGA from the choice of available monitors.

Keith, I'll try that. I forgot to mention that I can't restart , I get NVCORE errors. I'm going to try what you said Many Thanks, Carol
