.eml files will open with Microsoft Word, then you can save them as documents. You
get the embedded pictures, however if there are any attachments you won't see them.
If you open with Notepad or Wordpad you won't see any pictures, but you will get
the text and all the headers above the message and the HTML code below it.
I would install Outlook Express whilst offline and disable "send and receive messages
at startup". Save a lot of grief especially if you get a lot of these files
