Won't boot Windows after BIOS flash

I have an ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard and flashed the latest 0903 bios with
no problems. The issue is when I get the WindowsXP screen the computer reboots and
this will go on and on. I then have to re flash to previous bios to get into windows.
I have reinstalled the latest chipset drivers and don't know what else to try. (I
am going to call ASUS soon). I know a few others are having same issue with this
. Any suggestions?

Flash BIOS updates normally have an option to save your old BIOS before you update.
Read the text files.

I have no problems flashing the bios or going back to the last one which does allow
a Windows boot.

ASUS support said it probably is a driver the BIOS doesn't like but they can't understand
why another BIOS would work and this one won't. Tried selective start-up with no
luck. I can't repair my Wiindows ME because the manufacturer only sent me a recovery
disk, not the OS disk. Any other suggestions?

I'm slightly confused, as you originally seemed to be saying that you were running
Windows XP.
If this is a Win ME problem, it's possible to buy a Windows ME O/S on CD at eBay
if you do want to try the option of repairing the installation.
Are you completely sure you have used the correct file to flash the BIOS with?
I've done so, successfully, and know from experience that AMIBIOS (for example) supply
several different types for my motherboard. I had to be *very* careful to find the
correct file, because there were 3 for my motherboard, and the correct one depended
on exactly how the m/board had been set up and which version of the m/board it was.
It does rather sound like you've flashed with a variant that isn't quite compatible
with your m/board. Go back and check all the printing on the m/board PCB, and compare
it very carefully with the downloads available for your BIOS.
And look at the websites of both the m/board manufacturer and AMIBIOS (or whoever),
because sometimes that's the best way to find all the information you need. I had
to get the computer's case open and a magnifying glass out to find all the specs
I needed from the m/board when I did mine!

Sorry for the confusion. I am running ME 2005. I am 110% I am flashing the right
BIOS. Tried latest two using ASUS ezflash 2 which confirms file before it flashes.
Cannot figure out why some BIOS's will boot Windows and latest two won't. Asus support
does not know either. Frustrating.

I've waited a few days, before posting again, in case anyone else had any better
solutions to suggest. But it seems no one else has.
The confusion, unfortunately, continues. There is no such O/S as "ME 2005". There
is only Windows Millenium, launched in the year 2000. You need to be very accurate
with your terminology, or it will be impossible to give you any usable advice.
I want to repeat the most important part of what I said originally: if Windows won't
boot, you have installed an incompatible ("wrong") BIOS.
This is down to the engineering of your motherboard. Your original BIOS version was
engineered specifically for the set of components (chipset) that the motherboard
manufacturer used on that board. It is perfectly possible that the BIOS was unique
to that board, if the board uses a non-standard chipset configuration.
The BIOS software is written without specific knowledge of what components are in
use on your m/board. So updates to the BIOS may not work, if the board manufacturer
"cheated" a little, by tweaking the original BIOS to work with its board.
To re-write the BIOS is possible, but it takes a lot of programming ability. I know
of one chap who re-wrote his BIOS, but it took him upwards of 30 hours to figure
out what he needed to do.
In practical terms, your m/board may have reached an age where it would make better
sense to retire it, and buy a more modern board that comes with the advanced BIOS
you now need.

Ed, I thought it went without saying that "me 2005" would be taken for WINDOWS XP
MEDIA CENTER EDITION 2005. Guess not. As stated before the BIOS was NOT wrong. I
have flashed many times using the BIOS portion of the Asus site. Anyway, the Board
itself is a M2n32-sli deluxe with the Nvidia 590 SLI chipset. I RMA'd it again
because i felt the first one they sent me was used and damaged.(no box, thermal paste
near socket etc.) Once I installed the new one i flashed using the same floppy as
i did before and she worked just fine :) Thanks for you help.
