floppy drive noise. searching for something?

i must have taken a floppy disc, out of the floppy drive, before it was done reading
it, now everytime i restart my pc, everything loads, and the the floppy drive makes
that anoying sound and the light comes on? is there anything i can do to stop it.
i tried putting a floppy in, right before it gets ready to do it again, but then
the nest time i restart or turn on, it does the same thing?
