SWITCHING ME TO XP.....HELP!! I recently tried to replace Windows ME with windows
XP. Xp went to a drive with not enough memory, while ME is still there in the other
drive. How do I get XP in the correct drive and how do I get rid of Windows ME completely???????

Drives don't have memory, drives have useable space.
How many hard drives do you have installed? I mean separate hard drives not partitioned
drives.
If you only have the one then I suggest you use your WinME
boot disk with Fdisk on it. Check the boot sequence in the BIOS so it reads the
floppy disk first. Start the computer up with the boot disk inserted and at the A:
prompt just type Fdisk and remove all existing drives. Restart the computer
and type Fdisk again and set the primary DOS partition. If you only want one drive
the select Y for the maximum available space.
At this point I would format the drive with Format.com of the boot disk. I know WinXP
with ask if you want to format to NTFS but the initial format will check the drive
for any back sectors first.
Then restart the computer and reset the boot sequence in the BIOS to read the CD
Rom first. Restart with the WinXP CD inserted and install WinXP.
