Hello all, I have an old machine running ME that I wish to use in the workshop to operate CNC machines. The operating system requirements for the CNC are 2000 or XP. I would like to upgrade to 2000, is this an easy action and what would be involved? Thanks PFW.

You have to do a Clean install of 2000. You Boot to the 2000 CD. At the first Partition Screen, Choose to delete the old Partitions, then just Follow along the prompts to create new Partition, Format, and the Install will finally Start.

After the Install Finishes go to Device Manager. Any Drivers like Sound, Video, Network, etc may need to be installed.

You would be better off posting this question in the Windows 2000 forum, where you'll be more likely to come across users who have actually upgraded to Win2K from WinME and thus have practical experience of the problems involved.

Most users here are, by definition, those who have chosen NOT to upgrade to Win2K.
