Are these two items the same. The windows me startup disk and the boot disk. I am trying to up grade my machine two xp and my bios need to be updated. When I use the windows me start up disk maker, it tells me that I am missing files. So I did a search and made a boot disk from bootdisk.com... are these one and the same. If so can I use the boot disk in place of the me start up disk to update my bios. I could really use some major help here in this bios upgrade thingy.

They are the same thing. Several versions of the standard Boot Disk. The Windows ME is a believe the last one.

The boot disks on bootdisk.com are basically the same, however, they load additional 
items into memory that can interfere with some BIOS update utilities.  Don't remember 
what the config.sys and the autoexec.bat looks like on the boot disk but copy paste 
the contents of each file, as well as a list of files on the disk into a reply and 
I will post back on what to delete so that it is clean.  You don't want the CD ROM 
drivers loading for instance if the only the floppy is used, or high mem loaded. 
 You can use the "REM" statement in front of items to disable so that they are ignored.

Have you verified that there is a BIOS update for your machine that will make it 
XP compatible first?  If so, and there is an update, you will have to follow the 
manufacturers, or the motherboard manufacturer instructions to the letter or it will 
fail and may leave your machine unuseable..
