Can I manually delete Restore files

I just recently uninstalled PC Health and it took out System Restore as well, which
I hadn't expected. Now I'm left with 1.5 GB in the Restore folder that I can't
delete (access denied). I have only a 4 GB hard drive with a 6 GB slave drive.
I'd like to be able to free up some space, and maybe reinstall System Restore.
Can these files in the Restore folder be deleted manually, and is safe to do that?
Thanks for any advice on this.
Thanks

Try turning off System Restore, and rebooting, most the files should disappear, if
not you could use a Linux Live Cd. Boot to the Cd, and mount the Windows Drive to
delete the Files. Microsoft also has a article on how to do it from a Boot floppy
somewhere on their WEB Site that I remember stumbling into.

When I deleted PC Health it took out System Restore. So there seems to be no way
to reinstall it. If you know of a simpler way to delete these old restore files
let me know. I'll most likely just replace the whole computer with XP

PChealth, and System Restore are part of ME, so if you cripple them it will probably
make for a unstable computer. The Restore Folder can get cluttered up even if you
don't use it though. I periodically delete the Restore folder using Linux Live CD,
when I boot back to Windows it recreates the Folder without the clutter.
If
your computer can handle XP though I say that is a good way to go. I still have My
old Windows ME computer, but My the other Computers I use have XP, and if I only
had one Computer it would run XP. Windows ME, and 98 are really becoming obsolete,
unless you don't use the Computer for much.
