I have a lot of photo's in my My Pictures program on my computer and haven't had
any problem until about 3 weeks ago.
All of suddeen now most of the photo's that are usually visible just by opening My
Picturesa now are blacked out, not all of them but the majority.
I can still right click on any that are all black and the photo opens just fine?
Any one have a clue what has happened and if I can fix this without dumping all the
photo's..I have tried to do a restore to a previous date when they were fine..that
didn't fix.

Your photos are undamaged, but the computer has lost the information as to how to
display them. This is easily cured.
1. Open any folder. On the file menu, click TOOLS then FOLDER OPTIONS, then on the
General tab click "Enable web content in folders".
2. Alternatively, restart the computer in DOS mode (using an MS-DOS startup floppy
disk from www.bootdisk.com) and type the following -
SCANREG /RESTORE
Note the space before the slash character.
Then follow the on-screen instructions to restore an earlier version of your system
registry.
3. Alternatively, install the IrfanView photo viewer program. The installation program
will restore the computer to normal operation. Download this program free from http://www.irfanview.com
