missing entry in "programs" list

Just re-installed MS Office again after machine out for repair. Seems they restored
the HD, for whatever reason. Did put the o/s back but not all the applications.
I did a "drag and drop" of the "Microsoft Word" entry in the "Programs" list to the
Desktop. Now I have an icon on the Desktop screen, but there is no entry in the "Programs"
list to access it that way.
Is there a simple way put it back, and still keep the desktop icon? Maybe I'm not
phrasing it right, as a seach doesn't turn up anything that pertains to my "problem".

Drag with Rt Click Button, and choose Copy, not Move.

Not sure that you understood what I said, or I don't understand what you were suggesting.
Copy where?
Normally, I would right click on the name in the program list - then select "Send
to Desktop as a shortcut". That would have left it on the program list AND the desktop.
The question is, HOW TO PUT THE ITEM BACK ONTO THE PROGRAM LIST, now that I've goofed.
One cannot "drag and drop" it back (while holding down the "C" key (copy), since
as soon as you do that, the Programs list disappears. Seems like there should be
a location where all those program names that are on the program list are, with shortcut
properties. Then I could make an addition to it.

The Program List, is just a Folder in Windows Explorer. If you drag something with
the Rt Click Button, then Copy, Or Move are in a Context Menu that Pops up as you
release the Item being dragged. Make a New Folder on the Desktop, and practice or
experiment with Dragging some things to it with the Rt Click Button. You should be
able to figure it out from there.
