downloading question

I have mozilla firefox browser. When I got my weekly computer tips newsletter, there
is an article about the
new firefox 3.0.3 browser and its advantages over my
firefox browser that I now have.
When I tried to download 3.0.3 even though I have
mozilla firefox I am told that I need Windows 2000 or
newer.. So my question is this:
Is there a way that I can download 3.0.3 with my
current WindowsMe?

Doubt it. Just use the old version of Firefox. That is what I do on the Old PC..
Win ME won't run new versions Of Internet Explorer either. If you want to continue
using Windows ME, just consider it like a old car that you can't get brand New parts
for anymore, and are happy it just still runs.

I don't know where you were downloading firefox 3.0.3 from but did you read the system
spec?
Firefox 2.0.0.17
is the last version that runs on all versions of Windows. All version 3.0's need
WinNT.
What version are you running?

Keith Stanier:
Thanks for your prompt response.
WorldStart.com...Quick tip: New Release Firefox 3.0.3. on 10/03/08 was my source
for downloading.
Because I have firefox 2.0.0.17, I believe, I thought
that my WinMe could download 3.0.3.
"Steve" who writes my weekly computer tip letter does not refer to any requirement
or version that one
needs to download 3.0.3..All he writes is press "here'
to go to download of 3.0.3, simple as that. Well,
obviously it was not that simple...WinMe cannot
download Firefox 3.0.3...I wondered why, so this is
my question: Can I somehow go around Win2000
which is one of the way I could download it...It really
is not that important..I just found the issue challenging and thought that I could
seek advise here
at Annoyances.
Thanks Keith

Steve, I couldn`t have said it better. Like an old car.
I just wrote to Keith Stanier asking the question that
you just answered. I then read your comment and
perhaps Keith will answer with your very same
thought on the question..
Thanks Steve, you guys always make my day.

DanTheMan, thanks for taking the time to give me
such good advise. The very word KernelEx gives me
the willies. I had some difficulties with this program
some time ago. I do not even remember how I got
throught that, but I am familiar with it.
Now as for my WinME computer, I think that I have
to follow the advise that Steve gave me yesterday,
when he said that I should just use the Mozilla firefox
that I now have...Because my WinMe computer is
like "an old car" that will give me problems finding
new parts for it..I agree with him, and I have decided
to just enjoy what I now have.
However, I have to say that you guys at annoyances
have always been there for me...I want to thank you
for your advise, but I am just a tad skeptical that I
could even follow instructions to work with KernelEx
and that could lead to my head exploding.
Thanks a Lot
