SURegCreateKey Failed! Drive A not communicating

I've read through the posts on this site regarding what to do when you get the error SURegCreateKey Failed! and followed the steps to download the boot disk to a floppy from another computer.... but when I insert and startup the computer again, it does the same as before. The computer is not recognizing my A drive. No light, no noise from the drive. What are my options given this situation? I just got a new laptop and want to transfer my pictures from my old computer over to the new one. I could care less about making the old one work... just want my data off it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks to all who read this.

Nevermind. Thanks again to anyone who was going to respond. I was able to start... run... then type scanreg /restore therefore not needing to use the A: drive.... all back to normal now.

Well Ryan your easiest way is just buy a flash drive and copy all you files over
that way.
