Windows Explorer settings

Hi!
I use Explorer a lot to access my hard drives. However, whenever I start Explorer,
it defaults to opening MY DOCUMENTS instead of C:
I thought I once saw a way to change it, but now cannot find it.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
France

Look under the properties of the windows explorer logo and change to the following:
C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE /e,c:
That should do it.

I usually create a shortcut on my desktop by right clicking to bring up the context
sensitive menu and then go New >> Shortcut. Type 'explorer' (no quotes) in the shortcut
wizard and click Next (twice I believe) to finish it off and it should open explorer
on your C:\ or wherever you have your operating system installed (mine opens to D:\)
I then toss the shortcut onto my Quick Launch bar for easy access since I use it
more frequently than any other software. Give that a try and let us know it if
does/doesn't work.

Hey All,
Thanks for the help!
First response did the trick.
Also tried the "Create new SHortcut" trick, those this did the same thing as the
shortcut I already had - opens to My Documents.
The command line switches worked well. If only there was some place you could easily
find out about them.
THanks again,
France

From MicroCrap's help webpage (and it took some finding):
alter the command line of your windows explorer to the following. you can replace
"c:\" with wherever you want it to start.
c:\windows\explorer.exe /n,/e,c:\
There.

Thanks for the hint. I've hated Windows ME since I bought my PC! Can't stand why
it thinks I want to see 500 files in no particular order! AND Why it must look into
my documents 1st when trying to "save as" or to open another file in the same directory
that the one you have open is from!! Piss-Poor evasion of the Kiss principle!

Hi Tank
Mayby it's 3 years since you wrote this, so i don't know if you read it, but the
default settings have been annoying me since ME came out. Can't belive it took me
3 years to find your hint, but it's great! Thanks a lot!
Sincerely Niels
