Compaq Presario s7390uk install issue

Hi, right i got a Presario, here is the general spec you need to worry about.
P4 2.8ghtz
!gb DDR Memory
DVD Drive
128mb Graphics
Right the problem,
When installing Vista, i seam to have a major problem, it boots no problem from the
disk and comes up with the "Windows is copying files..." with the scroll bar accross
the bottom on the black and white screen, when it gets to the end of this it should
go onto the blue install screen however it halts on a plain empty black screen.
I know that the installer works as it runs on other machines, here are some of the
fixes i have tried, if you know of any others that could help me then that would
be great.
* Updates to the BIOS including latest version
* Removed Graphics card
* Removed every card in the PC!
* Booted in safe mode (locks PC)
* Booted showing files as loads.
* Booted in VGA mode (locks PC)
* Removed all USB and othe rnon essential devices.
I am really stuck with this one, i have also had a simillar problem with installing
Linux on this machine.
The bios allows you to change little, so i hope its nothing in there that neeeds
doing!
