Going from 866 to 1 Gig is like milking a mouse. Put more RAM in if you have less
than 256 and go into msconfig and trim your startup list to essential boot time items.

The next step is to turn off non-essential services in Control Panel>Administrative
Tools>Services. There are several guides to doing this but only you can decide what
is appropriate for your system and usage.

RAM and learning how to tune/configure your OS is way more effective than a minor
processor change.
