That is the best laugh I had all day, someone is out to con you I fear with an old 
beta CTP version.

Their is NO pre release timed trial versions of Vista available at this point in 
time, if someone is selling you a copy it is indeed an illegal version as it as mentioned 
is not available in retail versions at present.

Only route you can legally get Vista is via Connect ( as part of the beta test team 
), MSDN ( as a subscriber ) and soon to be at WinHEC ( as a visitor ), Vista beta 
versions are still in closed beta at present, how do I know?  I'm legitimatly part 
of the beta team testing it.
